North East Water (Water Re-Use Scheme)
Benalla, Victoria

Approximately 50% of previously discarded water is now applied to agricultural use in this water reclamation project delivered by Cobram Irrigation

As a result of meeting compliance with requirements of their respective State Environmental Protection Policies, Municipalities such as North East Water have developed and are implementing reclaimed Water Reuse Schemes.

Cobram Irrigation was successful in tendering for the installation of 3 Valley Center Pivots to distribute the waste water generated from the town ship of Benalla. Approximately 50% of the town's waste water is currently being applied to cropping on the outskirts of the town through the systems installed by Cobram Irrigation.

As well as the construction of the Center Pivots, Cobram Irrigation was responsible for the installation of supporting pipelines and Electrical Works to power the machines.

Treasury Wines Estates' Floating Pontoon
Barooga, Victoria

Safeguarding future water requirements was the key driver in this water management project, delivered by Cobram Irrigation

One of Australia's leading wine companies, Treasury Wines Estates is famous for producing some of our most iconic wine brands – including Penfolds, Wolfe Blass and Lindemans. Treasury Wines Barroga Plantation is one of 12 wineries within its portfolio of 11,000 hectares.

Cobram Irrigation was commissioned to design and install a new floating pontoon to safeguard future water delivery requirements for the Barooga Plantation, as their old pontoon no longer met current Occupational Health and Safety Requirements and local council regulations.

Water is taken directly from the Murray River via three Monarch 75kw 4 Pole Foot Mount Pump Sets installed on the floating pontoon structure, coupled with a Techsys Variable Frequency Drive Controller. The new pontoon allows water to be sourced deeper in the Murray River and the pontoon floatation allows pumping to be unaffected by the natural rise and fall of river levels. The poly pontoon floats are packed with polystyrene for added bouyancy.

Cobram Irrigation employed the services of Archard's Irrigation to construct the 15,000kg 40 meter long pontoon structure, which was locally manufactured in Cohuna Victoria and transported by Babcon Cranes to site in Barooga on the NSW and Victorian border.
